Meet Father Thomas

Fr. Thomas Chinnappa joined Saanich Peninsula Parish on June 9, 2017.  Fr. Thomas was ordained to the priesthood on May 4, 1998, and served as a parish priest in the Diocese of Mysore in the state of Karnataka, South India.  He served his local diocese in various capacities: Associate Pastor, Pastor, Principal of Pre-University and Degree College, pioneer in starting schools, parishes etc.  After serving as a priest for 19 years in Mysore, he applied to work in our diocese.  He joined our parish in June 2017. 

Fr. Thomas has been given the important ministry of strengthening the social and pastoral relationship between our parish and our local First Nations communities (Tsartlip, Tsaw’out, Pauqu’achin and Tseycum).

Fr. Thomas has degrees in Arts, Philosophy, Theology, Education and Commerce, achieving a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree on Tribal Christians in 2010.
